How to Reduce Acne…
Acne is a skin condition which causes eruptions on the skin, mainly on the face, shoulders, scalp and the back. Almost 85% of the teenagers around the world are found to be the victims of acne problems as they are more susceptible to acne at an early age. This is because of hormonal changes taking place in their body during the teen years. Another reason is their high levels of activity and constant exposure to sunlight as they indulge in many outdoor activities.
Girls face tremendous acne situation during puberty, when the body stars to produce female hormones, usually between the ages of 11 to 13. In boys however, this change starts happening after 14, as they mature later compared to girls. Most teenagers get upset by seeing acne develop primarily on their face, as it tends to affect their social lives. When acne attacks teenagers, it will take quite some time to reduce in the early stages. Regardless, teenagers still continue to use different methods of eliminating it.
The following are some of the methods by which acne can be reduced and eventually removed:
Herbal remedies: There are several herbal remedies available in the market; however, not all of them may work for everybody. It will require several trials before you find a remedy that will suit you the most. Herbs such as tea tree oil, licorice root, German chamomile and flax seed oil have inflammation reducing properties and are used in treating acne.
Avoid fats and oils: Fast food and other popular snacks are full of fats and oils. Avoiding these foods can reduce your acne considerably. Stay away from junk food, caffeine and salty foods. Also determine whether specific foods aggravate your skin and eliminate them from your diet.
Do Not Touch: Touch your face as less as possible; and make sure your hands are clean when doing it. Also avoid squeezing pimples as bacteria on your hands or on unsterile equipment can lead to more blemishes and possible scarring.
Wash it: Wash your face at least twice a day (mornings and before sleeping) with a mild cleanser or face wash. Use a pH-balanced cleanser without perfumes or too many chemical additives.
Drink lots of water: Drinking lots of water can maintain the moisture of the skin as well as help in removing waste and toxins from your body. Also increase the amount of nutrients you are consuming, as these nutrients can affect your skin positively. These include whole grains and fresh vegetables and fruits, to keep your body healthy overall and provide nutrients to your skin.
Steam Facial: Steam your face once or twice a week to help relax the pores. Boil water, remove the pot from the stove, drape a towel over your head and hold your face over the pot. Then rinse your face with cold water. Or try getting a facial from a beauty salon every 6 months.
Personal Care: Taking care of your personal hygiene is very important, especially if you’re very active. Take a shower every day after returning home and before going out. Limit your exposure to the sun and reduce the stress in your life, as taking stress over something like acne is likely to aggravate it.
